Mrs. Helen Torrence Helms, 100, of Wingate, NC, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023. She was born in Mecklenburg County on November 19, 1922, the daughter of the late William May Torrence and Edith Millen Torrence. She was preceded in death by her husband James Ned Helms, brothers, Ralph Torrence, Audrey Torrence, and Pete Torrence, sisters, Dorothy Hice and Inez Black.

Mrs. Helen was a faithful member of Wingate Baptist Church for over 70 years and was one of the church's oldest members.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 12, 2023, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service. She will be laid to rest following in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.

Helen is survived by her son James Donald Helms, and numerous nieces and nephews.
