James "Maurice" Richardson

James Maurice Richardson, 88, of Monroe, NC passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025. He was born in Union County, NC on July 31, 1936 son to the late James Willis Richardson and Mae GeNora Hinson Richardson. He is also preceded in death by his son, Michael Richardson, and two granddaughters, Karli Richardson and Kelsey Richardson.

The family will receive friends and family Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 2:00PM until 2:45PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110. A service to celebrate his life will follow visitation beginning at 3:00PM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in the church sanctuary, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Maurice is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, LaNelle Tarlton Richardson, son Perry Richardson (Teresa), daughter, Crystal Lemmonds (Allen), sister, Mary Hazel Williams (John Wayne), six grandchildren Tiffany Greene, Kristin Tomberlin, Tyler Richardson, Amber Richardson, Ashley Richardson, and Alex Griggs, as well as 14 great-grandhchildren.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Atrium Health Hospice and Palliative Care Union, for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
