Phyllis Mcwhorter Laney

Phyllis McWhorter Laney, 80, of Monroe, NC passed away Friday, October 6, 2023. She was born in Cabarrus County, NC on February 20, 1943, the daughter of the late James Ely McWhorter and Maude Neal McWhorter. She is also preceded in death by her brothers: James McWhorter and wife Linda, Robert McWhorter and wife Betty, Donald McWhorter, Marshall McWhorter, Mickey McWhorter and wife Doris, and Earl McWhorter.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 5300 Nesbit Rd, Waxhaw, NC 28173, burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 62 years: Brady Laney; Michael Laney and wife Robin, daughter; Dana Laney, three sisters-in-law: Jean McWhorter, Brenda McWhorter, and Mary Ann Starnes, three grandchildren; Brad Laney and wife, Sara Ashley, Myles Laney, and Kerrigan Laney, and one great-grandchild, Lynna Kate Laney.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
