Richard Dale Hutchinson, 82, of Monroe, passed Monday, June 17, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Champaign, IL on September 22, 1936 a son of the late Ray and Ethel Vezey Hutchinson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Powell Hutchinson, a son, Richie Hutchinson, a brother, John Hutchinson and a sister, Jane Freeman. He retired from Bell Laboratories. He adored and cherished his grandchildren and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Funeral services will be held 7:30PM Wednesday, June 19, 2019 in the Gordon Funeral Chapel 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112 with the Rev. Ron Hanna officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:15PM Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be 3:00PM Sunday, June 23, 2019 in the Arab City Cemetery under the direction of the Gober Funeral Home in Arab, AL. Survivors include two sons, Dale Hutchinson of Monroe, David Hutchinson (Lee) of Matthews, NC, a daughter, Jill Thomen (Rob) of Burlington, NC, two brothers, Bill Hutchinson (Theresa) of Palisade, CO, Chuck Hutchinson (Peggy) of Eau Claire, WI, grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob, and Evan Hutchinson and Andrew Timmons.
