Webster Brice Mccain

Webster Brice McCain, 87, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Carolinas Medical Center. Brice was born on December 4, 1934 to Edna (Thompson) and Charlie McCain. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. A private service will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Raised in Waxhaw, Brice attended Jackson High School, then graduated from Mineral Springs High School. After graduation, he attended the Diesel Mechanic School in Nashville, TN and then joined the United States Army serving in the Korean War, after which he returned to Waxhaw. In 1953, upon the completion of the Catawba plant, Brice joined Bowater Incorporated as a Master Craftsman when its doors opened. He retired from Bowater in 1993. Brice married the love of his life, Margaret Carter on January 18, 1964. Brice and Margaret were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their closest family and friends in 2014, before Margaret predeceased him in 2015. Together, Brice and Margaret were very active members of the Jackson community in Waxhaw. In 1972, Brice helped start the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department and was a lifelong member. He served as volunteer fireman and Fire Chief for many years and was still serving as an active member on the Board of Directors at the time of his death. Brice was also a member of Hermon Baptist Church in Waxhaw, where he served as a long-time deacon. In addition to spreading generosity and kindness in the community and church, their greatest joy was their six grandchildren. Brice is survived by his children, Greg McCain (Heather) of Monroe, NC and Jennifer Reeves (Barry) of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Luke, Hannah and Will McCain and Colin, Addison and Camden West.
