Obituary

Albert Douglas Broome, also known as Doug, was born December 5, 1930. Son of Luther and Tessie (McCorkle). Doug was one of four children. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, followed by Military Honors, March 17, 2018 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112. Doug was married to Nona Dee (Harmon); to this union three children were born, William Douglas, Phyllis Ann, and Tracy Steven; the couple later parted. Doug served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged after four years of service. On July 2, 1965 Doug was united in marriage to Audrey Elaine (Carstensen). The couple made their home together with Audrey's daughter Anna Marie in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Together the couple traveled the U.S doing construction work. Later on they established Broome Enterprise, remodeling of local hospitals and doctor's offices for five years. His grandson Stephen Stickle, and good friend Carl Edwards often assisted them in various projects. His son Tracy is following in his footsteps with construction in McCall Idaho, along with his grandson Stephen who is a Project Engineer with Vannoy construction. Doug enjoyed his hunting trips to Iowa for pheasant and Idaho for elk, along with fishing at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one grandson, Jason Broome. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Audrey and children, William (Bill) and wife Karen of Boise Idaho, Phyllis and husband Jay Hansen of Lincoln Nebraska, Tracy and Linda of McCall Idaho, Anna Marie Stickle of Indian Land South Carolina; also surviving are eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren, one sister Phyllis and husband Larry Crist of Boise Idaho, many relatives and friends, especially new friends Kristen and Kim of Hospice of Union County.
