May 21, 1926 — September 25, 2019

Alexander Roy Wallace - 93, affectionately known as “Jock”, by everyone that loved him, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. He passed away at home, at Providence Meadows Retirement Home, with his loving wife of 37 years, by his side. Alex was born on May 21, 1926, to the late James and Lillian Wallace, in Old Meldrum, Scotland. He was a WWII Veteran, having served in the Indian Army, which later became the British Army. Serving the majority of his time in Africa and India, he also served in other countries. During his service, he guarded the Queen of England. Alex spoke four different languages fluently. After his time in the military, he made America his home. He began his career in the shoe business, where he owned Lee’s Shoes in Monroe, NC. Alex ventured out with Naturalizer Shoes, and owned four stores, located in Charleston, SC and Charlotte, NC. He was a gentleman, by means, and enjoyed dressing in his kilt, and sharing a wealth of knowledge that he had acquired over his lifetime. He was an avid golfer, having played on courses all over the world, and didn’t hesitate to give you a lesson on where he had played and with whom. Alex leaves behind to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Linda, two daughters, Susan (Michael) Carry, of Scotland, and Tonya (Lyn) Gardner, of Pageland, SC, one son, Steve Williams, of Matthews, NC, and one step-son, Douglas (Marybeth) Masterson, of Matthews, NC, seven grandchildren, Christopher (Lee), Phillip (Suzanne), Jane (Ian), all of Scotland, Blair (Justin) Courtney and Lee Gardner, of Pageland, SC, Ryan Williams and Dylan Williams, of Charlotte, NC, eleven great-grandchildren, and his precious furbabies, Charley and Fat Bottom.
