Alexandra (Allie) Vreeland, 30, born and raised in Staten Island, NY passed peacefully on October 27th with her family and friends by her side in Monroe, NC after a long battle with breast cancer. A 2005 graduate of The Petrides School, she completed a Bachelor's Degree in Music Studies from Berklee College of Music in Boston. After being diagnosed in 2015, Allie started a support group on Staten Island for young people with breast cancer and spent the last months of her life caring for her pet chickens at her country home in Monroe, NC. A gifted singer and songwriter, Allie was a selfless giver to anyone she met and lit up any room with her infectious laugh. Her life legacy was to offer a compassionate ear, lend a helping hand and encounter the world with an open heart. Allie is survived by her mother Beth Portuesi-Cotroneo; her father and step-mother Richard and LeAnne Vreeland; brother Rich Vreeland; Grandparents Elaine Vreeland, Louis Portuesi and Joyce Christopher; Aunt Jane Portuesi; Godmother Aunt Sandra and Uncle Charles Petrizzo; and lifelong best friends Elizabeth and Tricia Anastasio and Caryn Montalbano. Funeral services for Allie will be 11:00AM Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Wolf Pond Baptist Church, 78 Wolf Pond Church Road, Pageland, SC 29728. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, October 30, 2017 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
