Amy Marie (Heisler) Gale

August 19, 1933 — April 27, 2018

Amy Marie Heisler Gale was born in Buffalo, NY on August 19, 1933. Her family later moved to Long Island where she attended high school and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She married William Henry Gale, Jr. on September 16, 1951, just before he shipped overseas with the Army. When he finished his service, they lived in Nassau County for a number of years and then settled in East Hampton, NY in 1965 where they raised their 6 children. Amy worked for the East Hampton school system as a secretary in the guidance office for many years. She was active in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, supported her children’s many activities, and sang with the Sweet Adelines chorus. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Amy and Bill retired to Monroe in the mid-1990’s, with their son Edward, to start the next chapter of their lives. Happily, they found the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church community immediately and became active members of the church. An avid reader, Amy joined various book clubs over the years, discovered water aerobics at the Aquatic Center, and eventually they settled in the Woodridge community where they enjoyed many good friendships. Amy is survived by her six children and five grandchildren. They family would like to thank The Rev. Brad Smith, Gordon’s Funeral Home, the staff at Wyckoff Medical Center (Brooklyn, NY) and Hospice Cares of Brooklyn for all the help and support that has been offered. Memorial donations may be made, in Amy’s name, to Loaves and Fishes of Union County. Online condolences may be made to www.gordonfuneralservice.com. Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory is caring for the Gale family.
