Andrew "Andy" Giarla

Andrew Reagan Andy Giarla, 20, of Waxhaw, passed away Thursday, Decemeber 29, 2016. He was born November 6, 1996, in Cabarrus County, NC to Rick Giarla and Judy Williams Giarla. Andy was a 2015 graduate of Parkwood High School where he played football. He was a gifted athlete and was always participating in sports, especially baseball and football. After graduating from Parkwood, he attended UNC-Charlotte. Andy is survived by his parents, Rick and Judy; brothers, Richie Giarla and wife, Tina, of Indian Trail and Nicholas Giarla of Waxhaw; sisters, Debbie Giarla Evans and husband, Tim, of Abingdon, VA, Margarett Giarla Cherry and husband, Richie, of Waxhaw, and Rion Courtney Williams of Concord; paternal grandmother, Beverly Giarla of Salem, VA; and maternal grandmother, Clara Williams of Charlotte. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 116 South Church Street, Monroe, NC 28112, with interment to follow in Waxhaw City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Andy Giarla to Parkwood High School Football Program, 3220 Parkwood School Road, Monroe, NC 28112.
