Ann Summerlin Williams

Mrs. Ann Summerlin Williams, age 84, of Wingate, went to be with the Lord peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Dorothy “Ann” Summerlin was born December 17, 1939, at her family home in Wingate. The daughter of the late Dorothy and Spurgeon Summerlin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Charles Summerlin, and great grandchildren Everleigh and Kollyns Griffin.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 610 Macedonia Church Road, Monroe NC 28112, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM in the church sanctuary.

Ann was the oldest of five children, and grew up on a dairy farm that her family proudly owned and operated. She met her lifelong sweetheart at the young age of 12 in a wheat field. At the age of 16 Ann and Harold began courting, and the rest is history. Ann was married to the love of her life, Harold, for 66 years, their marriage withstood the test of time and is something to be admired, they raised a wonderful family together while fully devoted to each other.

Ann joined Macedonia Baptist Church at the age of 19, during that time she faithfully served the Lord, her church, and community endlessly. She was the church treasurer, children's Sunday school teacher, and choir member for over 35 years, director of the WMU, she also served in prison ministry with Gideons International, as well as nursing home ministries. Ann and Harold served together on several missions trips, including a trip to Gulf Port Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina. Ann retired from Union County Schools Child Nutrition in 2002.

Her daily priority was caring for her family and showing her deep love for them in every way. Ann had a servant's heart and left a beautiful legacy to those who remain here on this side of heaven.

Survivors include her loving husband Harold Edwin Williams, son Brian Williams and wife Donna of Monroe, daughter Melanie Strickland and husband Farley, of Wingate. Six grandchildren, Abby Byrum, and husband Eric, Kyle Williams, Kyle Strickland, and wife Courtney, Tyler Griffin, and wife Sydney, Jordan Griffin, and wife Katie, Kurt Williams, and fiance Dana Camp. Eleven great grandchildren Maci, Myles, Olivia, Hudson, Johnny, Camden, Taylor, Clara, Isla, MaKenna, and Kylie. Three brothers, Max Summerlin and the late Shirley, of Cottonville, NC, Larry Summerlin and wife Becky of Society Hill, SC, Tommy Summerlin and wife Lisa, of Wingate, NC.
