Anna Maria (Dejarnette) Gleason

April 13, 1962 — March 23, 2017

Anna “Annie” (DeJarnette) Gleason, 54, of Monroe NC, entered the Heavenly Kingdom on Thursday, March 23, 2017. She was born April 3, 1962, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Joann Kelly and Donald Dean DeJarnette. Annie graduated from Gulf High School in New Port Richey with the class of 1981. She worked locally in Florida as a Food Deli Manager at the Publix Markets in New Port Richey and Holiday FL. In 1985 Annie moved to Monroe, NC and worked as a Harris Teeter Assistant Deli Manager. She left that job in 1987 and found her “passion” in Home Health Care (CAN) at Care One in Monroe NC. Enjoying the labor involved in home health care, she branched out on her own to care for many that couldn’t care for themselves as an independent contractor. She continued this until the time of her passing. In her spare time she was an incredibly accomplished seamstress and gardener. Never daunted by large or small jobs for her home maintenance, she tackled masonry, electrical and plumbing jobs around her own home. As an avid and passionate pet lover, she often had 4-7 dogs under roof at any given time. She found the sport of bowling early in her life, and could be seen out frequently, enjoying a good time at the “alley” with friends or family. But her most prized Joy was spending time with her children, family and friends. She is survived by her two children, Alicia Ann Gleason of Monroe, NC and Casey Kyle Wilson (Susan Nichols) of Matthews, NC; a sister, Mary Kathleen (David) McCarthy of Monroe NC and brother, Gregory Dean (Machele) DeJarnette of New Port Richey, FL. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joann Kelly; Stepdad, Nicholas Kelly and father, Donald DeJarnette. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located at 725 Deese Street Monroe NC 28112. The family will be at the church prior and after the service to greet relatives and friends.
