Annie Elizabeth Ivey

Ms. Annie Elizabeth Alexander Ivey also known as “Cookie”, 75, of Monroe, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 22, 2022. She was a daughter of the late Brantley Alexander and Almeta Chambers Alexander. Annie was born April 15, 1946 in Union County, North Carolina. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church 520 Billy Howie Road Waxhaw, NC with the Rev. Khalil D. Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Annie will lie in state from 10:00 until the time of the service at the church. Friends and family may drop by Gordon Funeral Service 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM to pay their respects and sign the register book. Annie was dedicated to serving the LORD. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, studying the Bible and reading religious books. She joined Langford Chapel CME at an early age. There, she served in various church ministries and sung on the choir. She later joined Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Annie was dedicated to her family and worked hard to provide for their needs. She was also known in the community for her generosity and her willingness to help those in need. Annie graduated from East Union School in 1963. She received a degree in Cosmetology and an Associate Degree in Human Services. Annie held various jobs. However, her favorite job was working with the Special Needs Community. She was the owner and director of Southwood Place Group Homes where she provided dedicated and excellent care for special needs people. Annie leaves memories of her life to her children: Teresa Massey (Charles) of Monroe, North Carolina; Christopher Ivey of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Phillip Ivey of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and granddaughters, Hannah and Faith Massey whom she loved and absolutely adored. Annie also leaves to cherish memories to her sisters: Daisy Alexander, Norma Vinson, Mary Black, Faye Thibodeaux (Bill) and Kathleen Stafford (Kenneth), 6 nephews, 5 nieces, 2 aunts - Eunice Richardson and Daisy Chambers, a very special cousin Betty Cherry and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
