Archie Lynn Rorie

Archie L. Rorie, 85, of Monroe, NC went to be home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2018. He was surrounded by his family. Archie was born in Union County on December 11, 1932 to the late William Edwin and Emma Hallman Rorie. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Marie Parker Rorie in 2001, four brothers and one sister. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a proud United States Army Veteran where he served in the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Sarah Jordan Rorie, two sons, Randall Rorie and Chas Griffin, wife Patti all of Monroe, two daughters, Teresa Tyson of Monroe, Marcie Padgett and husband Dennis of Waxhaw, two sisters, Anna Laura Green of Stockridge, GA, and Betty Jo Moak of Charlotte, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His love in life was music, a special thanks to the bluegrass music group The Southerners- Phil Howell, Larry Smith and David Kinard. Archie was a longtime member and supporter of Grace Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Grace Baptist Church 3411 Weddington Rd, Monroe NC 28110, the family will visit with friends prior from 2:00pm until 2:45 PM, burial with military honors will be at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave, Monroe NC 28112.
