Arlene Helms

Arlene Broome Helms, 84, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021. She was born December 17, 1936 in Union County, NC daughter to the late Henry & Mary Kee Broome. She is also preceded in death by her husband Olin Helms, a brother Horace Broome, and a sister Freida Ennis. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Lakeland Memorial Park. Mrs. Helms was a Godly Christian woman who loved and adored her family. She doted over her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife to her late husband for 62 years, and a loyal member of Memorial United Methodist Church. She loved gardening, cooking, shopping and going to the movies. She enjoyed her family tremendously and always put others before herself, never met a stranger and loved helping others. Arlene was such a beautiful person in so many ways, and all that knew her will forever be grateful of her. Arlene is survived by her daughters Sherry Dove, her husband Jerry, and Kathy Helms, her husband David, a brother Franklin Broome his wife Vera, a sister Linda Long, three granddaughters: Andra Browning, her husband Dodd, Sarah Moore, her husband Kevin, and Katie Helms, three great grandchildren: Krislyn Browning, Caison Browning, and Miranda Moore.
