Arthur Saunders Henton

Arthur (Buckey) Saunders Henton, Jr., 64, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022. He was born April 26, 1957, son of the late Arthur Saunders Henton Sr., and Phyllis Jean Charlton-Henton.

A memorial service will be held 1:00PM Friday, March 25, 2022 at Wingate United Methodist Church, 111 Hinson Street, Wingate, NC 28174. The family will receive friends 11:30AM to 12:45PM prior to the service at the church.

Born in Harrisonburg, VA, Buckey was a former 63T in the US Army with rank of E-5P. He retired as a diesel mechanic at Taylor’s Motor Company. Bucky was also a lifetime member of Wingate United Methodist Church and Adjutant of Post 431 American Legion - Wingate, NC.

Bucky married his wife Denise on July 17, 1976 and they celebrated 45 years together. He was a friend to everyone he ever met. He was never willing to let that friend, neighbor or even a stranger do without, if he had it to give. He worked tirelessly with WUMC and feeding those at Thanksgiving was just one of his many volunteer projects. And believing laughter was the best medicine, he always had a joke to tell. Bucky loved everyone and never met a stranger. His large family was his greatest joy. Every weekend was reserved for time with his sons and grandchildren, even if a lot of that time did revolve around a mechanic shop.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Denise Griffin Henton; son Todd Henton (Nikki) of Marshville, son Scott Henton of Wingate; four grandchildren, Payton, Chase, Chloe and TJ; four sisters, Kathy Charlton of Harrisonburg, VA, Marty Mullenax of Charlottesville, VA, Nola Deavers-Dellinger of Harrisonburg, VA, Sissy Hartis of Ashville, NC; one brother Gene Carlton of Monroe, NC; beloved niece Michelle Thomas (Jerry) of Monroe; as well as many more nieces and nephews and lots of extended family and close friends, all left to treasure his memory.

Mr. Henton will receive full military honors.
