Aubrey Lee Haigler, 90, of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 2, 2026 after an extended illness. Born August 10, 1935, he was the son to the late Adam and Lela Haigler. He is also preceded by: brother Thurlow Haigler; infant daughter Shirley Ann Haigler; wife of 71 years, Shirley Little Haigler; great-grandson in utero Joseph Walker Haigler; infant great-granddaughter Lauren Haigler.
Survivors include his three children: Perry Michael Haigler, Penny Haigler Tomberlin, Ronnie Wesley Haigler and wife, Paula. Aubrey had 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Bonnie Baucom, Hoyle Haigler (LaNae), Wade Haigler (Martha), Wanda Thomas (Mike), Judy Poplin (Ray).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Rd, Monroe, NC 28110, officiated by Rev. Travis Hutcheson and Rev. Justin Nash. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.
Aubrey retired from the Monroe Police Department after 15 years of service. He also served for several years as a substitute rural mail carrier.
Though Aubrey lived in the Unionville Community all his life, he enjoyed traveling the United States as an independent trucker, sometimes referring to himself as a “professional tourist”. He always enjoyed sharing experiences and stories from his trucking days.
Aubrey was a life-long member of Shiloh Advent Christian Church.
He loved children, especially his own grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Aubrey’s family appreciates all the visits and kind gestures by friends and neighbors during his five and a half years of being bedbound. They also wish to acknowledge his numerous caregivers, including Charlotte Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, Atrium Hospice and Palliative Care, and Amy.
Memorials to honor Aubrey may be made to Atrium Hospice and Palliative Care, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110 and Shiloh A.C. Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
