Audrey Wilson
Ferrier

Audrey Wilson Ferrier died peacefully on May 22, 2026. Audrey was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Each stage of Audrey’s life was dedicated to her family.
Audrey is survived by her husband John Ansell, her daughters Shona Martin and Moira Schieke, their husbands, David Martin and Stefan Schieke, and her stepdaughter Susan Link, and her husband, Mike Link. She has four grandchildren, William, Mimi, Caroline, and Colin and three step grandchildren, Madison, Alex, and Mallory.
Audrey was born in Dundee, Scotland on January 25, 1943. Her parents Williamina Anderson Wilson and Albert Wilson had large families in Dundee. She was raised with extensive family support in post-war Dundee. Audrey went to Ancrum Road School and Harris Academy. She attended St. Andrews University in Scotland for undergraduate and graduate school. She met her first husband, Robert Stewart Ferrier at St. Andrews.
In 1967, Bob and Audrey moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. They loved America and saw their time in Charlotte as an adventure. They moved to North Carolina with a strong British expatriate network, through Fiber Industries and Celanese. They loved boating, bridge, tennis, and vacationed at Lake Norman and Ocean Isle Beach. They hosted many Scottish family and friends in Charlotte for months at a time. They had a true appreciation for the American dream. They became US citizens in 1981.
Upon moving to Charlotte, Audrey worked at NCNB. She later taught math at CPCC, in high school, and then went back to school and worked as an actuary at Royal Insurance.
Audrey became a widow in 1999. She then turned her energy to help take care of her young grandchildren. She was adored by her grandchildren for so many fun traditions, great meals, and unwavering support.
Audrey married John Ansell in 2002. They loved to travel, exercise, attend baseball games, and be with their families. Audrey and John were very involved in their grandchildren’s lives. They were there to support them all throughout their lives.
Audrey’s light will be carried on by her family. Audrey was loving, kind, and generous. She is a great example for how to live for family. She taught her daughters and grandchildren to believe in themselves and live life with purpose.
