Avis Lucille "Lucy" Presson

Avis Lucille “Lucy” Presson, 91, of Monroe, NC passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023. She was born in Mecklenburg County on October 24, 1931, daughter to the late Ben Irvin and Fannie Nelson Irvin. She is also preceded in death by her husband Wade Holmes Presson, their daughter Denise Hartis, two brothers Arthur Irvin, Kenneth Irvin, and sister Margaret Regans.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Hopewell Baptist Church Legacy Campus, 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 PM until 3:45 PM in the church sanctuary.

Lucy is survived by her son Doug Presson (Kathy), daughter Jan Elzey (Jerry), sister Peg McRee, six grandchildren Linda Belk (Billy), Doug “Dougie” Presson Jr. (Tiffany), Melissa Sweatt (Jonathan), Amanda Norby (Dan), Leslie Hilton (Lee), and Amy Jay (Brandon), as well as ten great-grandchildren.

She was a Home Economics teacher for over 17 years with the public school system and spent over 40 years as a Sunday School Teacher.
