Barbara Dale Basnight

Barbara D. Basnight, aka BB, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the age of sixty-six. Barbara will be missed by so many who knew her love and friendship during her life, but especially by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara enjoyed life and met all challenges with a strong and loving spirit. She loved all things of the beach, cooking delicious meals, decorating for the Christmas holiday and spending time with her large family and friends. She was a hard-working, beautiful and generous woman in this life and is now resting with her brothers and sister that passed before her. Barbara is survived by her four daughters, Stephanie Horne-Morgan (Kim); Sherri Earp (Michael); Natalie Hargett (Michael); and Tami Horne, as well as her grandchildren Brook Riddick (Chase), Brianna Horne (Dalton), Christian Horne, Kaitlyn Hargett, Leah Hargett, Brody Hargett, Alston Morris, Addison Askew, Haylen Horne, Brittany Blair (Justin), Cody Earp (Faith), Hailey Earp (Zach) and her great-grandchildren Chase McWhorter, Nash Shortt, Jovi Brown, Walker Riddick, Zayne Donahue, Easton Blair and Jackson Blair. In addition to her daughters and grandchildren, she is also survived by her mother Linda F. Howell of Ahoskie, NC, brothers Scott Farmer (Susan), Donnie Farmer (Amy), Michael Farmer, and sisters Wendy Davenport (Wayne) and Tina Pennington (Rodney) as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her brothers David and Jackson Farmer and her sister Donna F. Flagg. A private family viewing is scheduled for Monday, December 6, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon’s Funeral Home in Monroe. An additional Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 12, at Garrett’s Funeral Home in Ahoskie, NC from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm for her friends and additional family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to a battered women’s shelter in her memory.
