Barbara Jane Braswell

Mrs. Barbara “Jane” Morgan Braswell, 83, loving wife, mother and grandmother, ascended to her heavenly reward Thursday, April 16, 2020. She was born April 23, 1936, in Monroe, North Carolina to the late Howard and Leola Morgan. Jane is survived by her husband, Weldon. They were married for 65 wonderful years. They had the most beautiful marriage and relationship based on their love for God and each other. Jane was a life-long member of Mill Creek Baptist Church which she and Weldon attended faithfully. Her sweet spirit and smile will always be remembered. She is survived by sons, Jeffrey and Gary Braswell, both of Monroe; daughter, Suzanne Warfield, and her husband, Andrew, of Greensboro; and granddaughters, Erika Helmers, a senior at North Carolina State University, and Lauren Helmers, a junior at The University of Alabama. Jane loved her family dearly and was so proud of each of them. She devoted her entire life to raising her family and supporting Weldon with his dairy farm business. She is also survived by her sisters, Geraldine York and Ruth Sutton, and her sister-in-law, Helen Morgan. Her brothers, Wilson Simpson, Bivens Simpson and Donald Morgan, and sister, Annie Lee Helms, predeceased her. Services will be held Tuesday, April 21, at 2 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Friends and family are invited to attend the service by vehicle. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. During these times of limiting the numbers for social gatherings, the Braswell Family respects your concerns of avoiding crowds, so they welcome you to stop by Gordon Funeral Service earlier in the day on Monday April 20, 2020 from 10:00AM – 4:00PM to pay your respects to avoid crowds. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Mill Creek Baptist Church, 5417 Morgan Mill Rd, Monroe, NC 28110. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Jane’s beautiful life will be held at a later date.
