Barbara Polk Price, 91, of Monroe, NC passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024. She was born in Union County, NC on November 1, 1932, daughter to the late Hal H. Polk and Florence Price Polk. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Jim Price, as well as her brother, Hal H. “Buddy” Polk Jr.

Mrs. Price spent over 40 years teaching elementary school, starting in Mecklenburg County with the last 39 years at Fairview Elementary. She was an active member in her church, Hopewell Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School Teacher, and leading GA’s, RA’s ACTeens, and WMU. She lived her life in service to others.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Hopewell Baptist Church, 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow in Hopewell Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM in the church sanctuary.

Barbara is survived by her son, Stephen Price (Teralee) and daughter, Traci Price Ferguson (Doug), sister, Sunel Sharon, seven grandchildren, Stephen “Sean” Price; Anna ‘Niki” Price; Matthew Ferguson; Andrew Ferguson; Kim Hagler; Christy Pray; and Michelle Bancroft; thirteen great-grandchildren, Trace Hagler; Savanna Hagler; Tali Hagler; Rhett Hagler; Caylei Pray; Charissa Pray; Alexiss Audit; Dylan Starcher; Elle Bancroft; ;Trey Mullis; Keeghan Fisher; Kadalhia Fisher; Aiden Eshevarria; five great-great-grandchildren, Beau Audit; Reese Audit; Wylder Starcher; Axel Starcher; and Lennon Hagler.
