Barbara Jean Rorie, 87, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023. She was born September 8, 1935 in Memphis, Tennessee, daughter of the late Jesse Duncan and Clara Mansfield Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Ted Rorie, son Wayne Rorie, granddaughter Jennifer, great-grandson Freddy and siblings, Bernice Barnes, J.D. Roberts, Evelyn Johnson, Mae Bowers, Clara Gardner, Martha Addison, Lee Carter, Johnny Roberts and Doris Paden.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 30, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Bright Spot Baptist Church, 1407 Lockhart Street, Monroe, NC 28112. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends and relatives on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112.

Ms. Rorie is survived by her children Barbara Drennan (Charles), Billy Ted Rorie Jr., Christine Moree (Kenneth), Duncan Rorie and Carrie Crook (Dwayne); 18 grandchildren, David (Stephanie), Felicia, Ashley, Adam, Brianna (Matthew), Tristan, Trevor, Tony, Billy, Jessica (David), Christopher (Emily), Kimberly (Canaan), Krystal (Stephen), Kyle, Kayce (Mike), Kayla, Amber (Justin) and Carman; 21 great-grandchildren, Jansen, Janesa (Caleb), Jacob, Lauren, David (Jolene), Devin (Jordan), Danielle, Johnny, Layla, Tyler, Kiah, Dylan, Logan, Breanna, Justin, Nate, Madison, James, Waylon, Clara and Margaret Jean (due in May); 10 great-great-grandchildren, Ember, Gracie, Naideen, Weston, Layla, DJ, Dyson, Lola, Emelia and Ellie (due in May) and sister, Nell Harwell.
