Barbara Mills Starnes

Dateline: Monroe, NC Barbara Mills Starnes, 71, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012. She was born in Union County, NC on May 29, 1941 daughter of the late Addison William and Ruthie Mae Clontz Mills. Mrs. Starnes was a graduate of Unionville High School, class of 1959 and was retired from Wachovia Securities. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012, 11:00 am at Roanoke Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. Mrs. Starnes is survived by her husband of 50 years, Raeford H. Starnes, daughters, Angela S. Medlin and husband Freddie and Deborah C. Threadgill, a brother, William Michael Mills all of Monroe, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald O. Mills. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.
