Barbara O. Stewart went to be with her Savior April 14, 2018 in Monroe, North Carolina. She was born to Ernest C. Odum and Rowena Sutton in Lakeland, Florida on January 8,1934. She graduated Redlands High School in Goulds, Florida and attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was married for fifty four years to Lawrence Stewart, who preceded her in death in July of 2007. She was an equal partner in the pastoral ministry of her husband for fifty two years serving churches in Florida, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia. Barbara taught Sunday School classes, counseled couples and generally supported her husband's church ministry; In addition, she was an accomplished soloist. Barbara is survived by four sons and their families, William Lawrence Stewart, Jr. and Peree of Orlando; Florida; John Ernest and Sharon of Charlotte, North Carolina; Timothy Mark and Lisa of Monroe, North Carolina; and Jonathan David of Winston Salem, North Carolina; a sister Nadine and her husband Hilary of Opp, Alabama; and a sister Rebecca and her husband Carl of Lakeland, Florida; sister in law Patricia and her husband John of Cottonwood, Alabama, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A service of celebration will be held at 10:00 AM April 18, 2018 at the Forks of Little River Baptist Church, in Troy, North Carolina. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to the church to be received by the family one hour prior to the service.
