Beadie Deane Simpson

Deane Tomberlin Simpson, 85, of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 22, 2020, which was also her mother’s birthday. She was born on January 09, 1935 in Union County to the late Wriston Lee and Mae Rushing Tomberlin. She is predeceased by her husband, John Dowd Simpson and her son, Douglas Larry Simpson, brothers, “Buster” Tomberlin, Jay Warren Tomberlin, Bobby Tomberlin and sisters, Flora Tomberlin Little and Kay Tomberlin Kiker. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Simpson, Debbie Simpson Purser (Kenneth) and son, Derry Simpson (Donna). She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Jennifer Simpson Thomas (Desmond), Stephanie Simpson, Derek Simpson (Erica), Davis Simpson, Devin Simpson (Meghan), Daniel Purser (Lindsey), Brandon Purser (Elisabeth) and Bridget Purser. She is survived by ten great-grandchildren; Justin Palmer, Jordan Palmer, Taylor Simpson, Avery Rottgen, Amie Simpson, Cohen Burrell, Kaylinn Simpson, Carter Burrell, Axton Simpson and Easton Purser. She is also survived by her siblings; James Tomberlin, Wilburn Tomberlin, Peggy Tomberlin Hinson, Doris Tomberlin Greene and Faye Tomberlin Greene. Deane loved to feed people and was an excellent old-fashioned country cook. She loved to garden, bluegrass music, quilting and UNC Tarheels basketball. After working as a seamstress for many years, she stayed home and cared for her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Shiloh Advent Christian Church. During these times of limiting the numbers for social gatherings, the Simpson Family respects your concerns of avoiding crowds so they welcome you to stop by 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28110 to pay your respects. A private funeral service will be held Thursday, March 26 at Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Rd, Monroe, NC 28110. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Hospice of Union County, 700 W Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110. Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory is caring for the Simpson Family.
