Seth Cox

June 4, 2004 — November 23, 2022

Benjamin Seth Cox, 18, of Indian Trail, NC passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. He was born in Union County on June 4, 2004. Seth was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Randall Cox.

A funeral service was held at 1:00PM on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Covenant Baptist Church, 2706 Secrest Shortcut Road, Monroe, NC 28110. Burial followed in Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery.

Seth is survived by his father, Brian Cox, and his mother, Valerie Harn, his twin brother, Sam Cox and his little brother, Deacon Cox; sister, Logan Horne Benson (Dilynn), niece, Sadie Benson, nephew Silas Benson, paternal grandmother, Kate Cox and maternal grandparents, Richard and Sharon Harn, Aunt, Beth Sharpe (Kevin), Uncles, Andy Cox and Bryan Harn; cousins, Gabriel Sharpe, Lily Sharpe, Bo Cox, Tyson Cox, Kendall Cox, Alex Harn (Brittany) and Camryn Harn, best friends, Sarai Serna and Kaylee Easter. He also left behind his beloved service dog, Caroline, who adored him!

Seth was severely shaken by a caregiver on March 18, 2005 at the age of 9 months. Although doctors did not expect him to survive, boy was he a FIGHTER. He went on to live a wonderful life with a learning disability and seizures caused by being shaken and his traumatic brain injury at the hands of someone else. He graduated from Sun Valley High School earlier this year, despite all the obstacles that he faced.

Anyone that knew Seth, knew he was pretty much always happy and content. He had the biggest, prettiest smile that would light up the entire room. He also couldn’t give a regular hug. He would bear hug you because he wanted to make sure you knew he cared about you. He loved the Carolina Tarheels, playing Uno, playing volleyball, playing pranks on people, driving his golf cart, and Madea. He loved watching all of the Madea movies and could quote them well. Another one of his favorite things to do was to play spider tricks on family, friends, and even strangers where he would go up to people and say “Hey, there’s a spider” and would laugh hysterically when they would jump or scream. He loved his nephew, Silas, and his niece, Sadie, with all his heart. He loved spending time with Silas and playing with him, and Silas adored Seth.

The only thing that Seth loved more than this was Jesus, his church, his youth group, Camp Joshua, and singing with his brother. Seth was the rock that held his youth group together. He loved everyone so much! He was a faithful prayer warrior and could be heard praying for over 30 minutes at night for his family, friends, and church. If he ever said that he was going to pray for you, you better believe that he would!

He knew there was only one way to get to Heaven and Seth gave his life to the Lord long ago and had a relationship with the Lord. His family and friends know that he opened his eyes to Jesus that day without a shadow of a doubt and know that this is the beginning and not the end!

The family received friends from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Covenant Baptist Church.
