Betty Jo Smock Hunt

Mrs. Betty Jo Smock Hunt, 71, died February 4, 2006. She was born on July 27, 1934 daughter of the late Edgar and Genevieve “Jean” Hudson Smock. Mrs. Hunt had a BA MA in Christian Education and loved nothing more than teaching the Bible to others, especially to Women’s Bible study classes. She was quite gifted in making the Bible come alive through her teaching. Mrs. Hunt was for most of her adult life, not only a pastor’s wife, but also an executive secretary, school teacher and free lance writer of both fiction and non-fiction magazine articles. In the past few years she assisted her daughter, Shellee at the Silver Lining Jewelry Store in Monroe. One of her greatest joys was spending time with the couple’s two great grandchildren, Weston and Bryson Pollock. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7:30 PM at Grace Baptist Church. Burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mrs. Hunt is survived by her husband Wesley G. Hunt, son Jeffree A. Hunt and wife Sally of Fayetteville, GA, daughter, Shellee A. Comer and husband Terry of Wingate, sisters, Lucy Christian and husband Jerry of Neosho, MO, Jane Blyth and husband Vern of Manitoba, Canada, Judy Crosby and husband Marty of Anderson, MO, grandchildren, Jacklyn Pollock and husband Jason of Wingate, Jeremy Comer of Wingate, Wesley, Elizabeth and Susannah Hunt all of Fayetteville, GA , great grandchildren, Weston and Bryson Pollock of Wingate. The family will receive friends at Grace Baptist Church Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 7:15 PM prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, Missionary Fund, 3411 Weddington Rd., Monroe, NC 28110. Gordon Funeral Cremation Service of Monroe is caring for the Hunt family.
