Betty James

Betty Baucom Braswell James, 89, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019. She was born December 28, 1929 in Union County, NC, daughter of the late Boyce Powell and Gertrude Hill Baucom. She is preceded in death by her first husband, James Robert "Jimmy" Braswell, second husband, Robert James, also by siblings, Joe Baucom, Cecil Baucom, Audran Baucom and Barbara Braswell. Mrs. James is survived by her son, Larry Braswell and wife Trina and daughter, Vicki Cox and husband Ted; grandchildren, Mandi and Wayne Maske, Daniel Cox, Brandon and Jennifer Braswell and Justin Braswell; great-grandchildren, Leila Maske and Joel Cox; and siblings, Richard and Joanne Baucom, Rachel and Ivan Secrest, Frankie Ramsey and Dolan and Lucille Baucom. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 1:00 – 1:45 PM prior to the service. The family would like to thank Karen and the staff of Hillcrest Nursing Home and Matthews Novant Hospice for the excellent care they provided Mrs. James.
