Betty Jo Parker

Mrs. Betty Jo Faulk Parker, 79, of Waxhaw, NC passed away November 28, 2019. She was born in Union County on July 20, 1940 to the late Ed and Eula Godfrey Faulk. Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Waxhaw Baptist Church, 8213 Old Waxhaw-Monroe Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173, burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00pm until 2:45pm in the church fellowship hall. Betty Jo is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Edward (Preach) Parker Sr., and children; Debbie Braswell (Jim), Karen Sloop (Rick), Sandy Myers (Roger), Eddie Parker (Tammy), siblings; Norman Faulk, Thomas Faulk, Ruth Norwood (Clyde), Peggy Wilson (Don), Melvin Faulk (Susan), seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Waxhaw Baptist Church, where she served in several ministries, including hospitality ministries, children’s Sunday school teacher, in which she touched the lives of so many. She enjoyed taking care of family, her home and cooking. She also loved fishing trips to Cape Hatteras and looked forward to family vacations. Betty Jo had a kind and gentle heart but with a strong spirit. Mawmaw’s Jo’s pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought great joy to her and P awpaw Preach’s life. In lieu of flowers the family wish memorials be made to Waxhaw Baptist Church Building Fund and or Jesse Jude Food Pantry, both at 8213 Old Waxhaw-Monroe Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
