Betty Jane Outen Payne, 92, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015. She was born April 1, 1922 in Marion County, FL, daughter of the late Ellis and Ellie Jane Medlin Griffin. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edmond Outen and second husband, Clyde Payne, and a grandson, Scott Purser. Ms. Payne retired after many years of service as a dietician with Union County Public Schools at Unionville School. The family would like to thank her best buddy, Peggy Porter, who called her “Memy Louanne Jenkins”, which brought a smile to her face. The family would also like to thank the staff of Jesse Helms Nursing Center for their kindness and care of their mother. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 3:00 PM at High Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends and relatives Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112.
