Betty Jean Matthews Tomlinson, 73, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017. She was born March 22, 1943 in Tampa Fl, daughter to the late William Henry Matthews, Sr. Flo Alma Stegall Matthews. Jean is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years Jack Tomlinson, and a brother William Henry Matthews, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail-Fairview Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079. Burial will follow in Monroe City Cemetery. Jean is survived by two daughters; Cynthia “Cindy” Nichol, husband Eric, and Sonya A. Shores, husband Leo all of Monroe, a sister Suzanne M. Hinson of Monroe, two grandchildren; Michael Nichol, and Marsha Shores Teal, and two great grandchildren; Luke Teal, and Victoria Teal. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
