Beverly Ann Deese

May 27, 1961 — March 4, 2009

Dateline: Monroe, NC Beverly Ann Deese, 47, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009. She was born in Union County, NC on May 27, 1961. Beverly was a courageous woman with the strength and determination that most people dream of. After 20 plus years of dedicated service at Pennsylvania House, Beverly was laid off. Despite sudden unemployment, Beverly enrolled at South Piedmont Community College’s nursing program. After learning how to complete a self breast exam in class, Beverly administered an exam on herself and noticed a knot. Beverly was diagnosed with breast cancer within one week. Beverly underwent multiple surgeries and chemotherapy while being a full time nursing student and in spite of it all, she did not let her diagnosis hinder her plans. She graduated and was employed at Monroe Rehabilitation and Nursing as a licensed practical nurse within one year. Not only did Beverly work as a nurse but she worked as a seamstress at Deese’s Upholstery; business owned and operated by John and Beverly Deese. Through her hardships and pain, Beverly remained a devoted wife to her husband and mother to her sons. If you knew Beverly, you knew a special person. Beverly’s heart to serve others spread far beyond her family. Numerous people were touched during her fight against breast cancer and encouraged by her presence alone. Beverly Ann Deese was an extraordinary woman of courage, perseverance, compassion, and most importantly love. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, But you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; But a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, And let her works bring her praise at the city gate Proverbs 31:28-31 Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Prospect United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Beverly is survived by her parents, James and Mary Blake Rorie of Wingate, husband, John Richard Deese, sons, Richard L. Deese and wife Latosha of Monroe, Travis L. Deese and wife Natasha of Raleigh, Joshua O.
