Bill Lamont Kluttz,88, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019. He was born on April 29, 1931 to the late Russell Monroe Kluttz and Vera Miller Kluttz. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Judy Lee of Norwood and Sylvia Almond of New Bern.
Funeral services will be held from 1:00pm until 2:45pm on Wednesday July 3, 2019 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jean Bullock Kluttz, daughters, Barbara Kluttz Stafford (David) of Indian Trail, JoAnne Kluttz Murphy (Mark) of Pittsboro, and Kathryn Kluttz Farlow (Jon) of Archdale; sister, Shirley Kluttz Swaringer (William) of Albemarle, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
After attending Catawba College, he attended Appalachian State University, where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in science. He was a biology teacher for over 30 years before retiring from Sun Valley High School. During his time as a teacher, Bill also served as a high school football coach with two state championship . Bill was able to travel and explore different placed all over the world. He prided himself on his keen skill of money management. Along with all of his other many accomplishments, Bill also served in the signal core during his time in the Army and was an Eagle Scout. Bill also enjoyed writing mystery novels.
