Billy “Bill” Kirk McAteer, 90, of Monroe, NC passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026. He was born in Union County, NC on February 22, 1936, son to the late Paul Joseph McAteer and Catherine Griffin McAteer. He is also preceded in death by his three sisters, Sue McAteer Eubanks, Donna McAteer Fink, Kay McAteer Dillon.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30AM until 11:45AM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Helen Couick McAteer, son, William Charles “Chuck” McAteer, daughter, Cynthia Dawn “Cindy” McAteer (Price), daughter-in-law, Amy Elmore McAteer, two grandchildren, Makenzi McAteer Worl (Mike), Hayden McAteer, two great-grandchildren, Rip Worl, Riley Worl, and sister, Joan McAteer Gill.

Bill dedicated his life to hard work and family, serving for many years as a foreman at Southern Railway and a poultry farmer. He enjoyed hunting and riding his lawnmower. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail and a long-time sponsor of the Corinth Softball Team.
