Mr. Billy White Bost, age 83, of Monroe, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at his home. Mr. Bost was born on February 12, 1933 in Rowan County. He was a son of the late Theodore Lee and Myrtie Lee Bost. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn Eugene Bost and Walter Lee Bost. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be conducted at Benton Heights Presbyterian Church, 2701 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC, 28110, at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 20, 2016, followed by a graveside service at Lakeland Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Nancy Knight Bost, daughter, Lynn Bost Hamilton (Clegg Hamilton) of Monroe, NC, son, Billy W. Bost, Jr. (Leslie Bost) of Waxhaw, NC, and one granddaughter, Maggie Hamilton of Monroe, NC. Mr. Bost served in the US Army from 1953-1955 and was ready to ship out from Fort Jackson to Korea on the day the conflict ended. He then began his career in law enforcement as a Deputy with the Rowan County Sheriff's Department. He served as a Driver’s License examiner in North Wilkesboro and Charlotte until the late sixties. He was Safety Director for Holly Farms for 22 years before becoming a Code Enforcement Officer for Union County. He remained a sworn officer for 50 years. He co-founded Union County Crimestoppers and served with that organization from 1981-2011. He served on the Board of Directors of the NC Retired Peace Officers Association and as chairman of the North Carolina Motor Carriers Association. For many years, he was a trustee of the Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Bost was an active member of Benton Heights Presbyterian Church for almost 50 years, and for many years served as both Deacon and Elder. Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose happiest times were spent with his family, riding motorcycles with friends and family, and spoiling his granddaughter. He enjoyed his life and was a friend to all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.
