Billy Ray Hinson, 86, was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 3, 2026. He was born in Union County, NC on March 6, 1939, son to the late Ray B. Hinson and Flossie Helms Hinson. Billy Ray married the love of his life, Bonnie Lynn Snipes Hinson, and celebrated 50 years of marriage before she passed away in July of 2011.

He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles David Hinson, Harry Sylvester Hinson; and three sisters, Dorothy Louise Foster Griffin, Bernice Keziah, and Kathy Mae Phifer.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112, with visitation to follow at Gordon Funeral Service.

Billy Ray is survived by his daughter, Kristin Holloway and husband Calvin of Monroe; two grandchildren, Anna Jacumin, and John Luke Jacumin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church, 6713 Plyler Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28112 or to a charity of choice.
