Billy David Whitley

Billy David Whitley, 86, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020. He was born June 11, 1934 in Chesterfield County, SC son to the late Howard Hosea Whitley and Mary Blake Trull Whitley, also preceded in death by a brother Paul Whitley, and a sister Ruby Funderburk. Bill was a US Navy Veteran, served 4 years during the Korean Conflict, aboard an Air Craft Carrier. He worked for Thrifty Supermarket and Reckitt Benckiser before retiring. He always had a large garden and loved to share with his friends and neighbors, and would often take vegetables to church on sunday to share with his church family. A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Lakeland Memorial Park with Military Honors. Mr. Whitley is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mrs. Leola Hayes Whitley; son, David Alan Whitley and wife Karen, a brother, Douglas “Pete” Whitley (Sylvia), three grandchildren, Shannon Turner, Josh Whitley, and Marcus Whitley, and several great grandchildren.
