Bobby Harold Hamilton, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away June 26th, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews. Bobby began his life in Montgomery County on January 28th of 1929. At 19, he joined the Army where he spent 5 years in the European Theater serving as a Corporal and Medic in the Post-WWII reconstruction of Germany. Bobby resided in Union County for most of his 84 years. Bobby and his brother Roy worked summers at Union Mills. After his return from the WWII European Theater, Bobby and his brother Edward started a successful business, Sheet Metal, Inc., which they owned until retirement. Bobby was passionate about his family, children, animals, and the natural world. He was a tremendous Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend. He was a gentle soul who never had an unkind word to say to anyone. He was an avid sportsman and naturalist – he loved to hunt large and small game and had a passion for both fresh and salt water fishing. He was a devoted gardener providing seasonal gifts of vegetables and fruit to family, neighbors, and friends. He shared his love of children, love of nature, love of hunting, and love of gardening with everyone he met and knew. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Ezekiel Hamilton and Bertie Mae Eury Hamilton; sisters Betty Jane Hamilton Knight, and Doris Jean Hamilton Williams; and brothers Edward Ellison Hamilton and Roy Cecil Hamilton. Surviving are wife Jean Carter Hamilton, Monroe, N.C.; daughter Debi Hamilton Moore and husband Jack Turner Moore, Belize, Central America; and grandson Andrew Glenn Moore, Belize, Central America along with many beloved nieces, nephews and sister-in-law.
