It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our treasured Boyet Avery Twitty, Jr., who departed this life on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the age of 83. He was affectionately known as Daddy, Dad, Papa and Papa B to those who loved him most and leaves behind a legacy of family, faith and love.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Walkersville Evangelical Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112.
Born on July 29, 1942, in Monroe, North Carolina, Boyet was the son of the late Boyet Avery Twitty, Sr. and Evelyn Starnes Twitty. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Twitty.
Boyet leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory always. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lynn McCain Twitty; his daughter, Allison Twitty Batson (Mark); his son, Todd Twitty (Debra) his grandchildren, Bristol Batson (Savannah), Brody Batson, Braylen Batson (Riley); Devane Rushing and DJ Rushing (Kristen); his precious great-grandchildren, Allianna Mae Batson, Isaac Rushing, Noah Rushing, Kahleah Rushing, Elijah Rushing, Piper Rushing, Trevor Rushing and Brantley Rushing; a sister, Edith Twitty Long along with many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Boyet began his career with The City of Monroe in 1964 and retired with 30 years of service in December 1992. He was blessed to have been retired longer than he had worked. He served proudly in the Navy as a Seabee from 1966 to 1968 in the Vietnam War. He believed strongly in hard work and doing things not necessarily the “right way,” but the “Boyet way.” A true perfectionist, he took great pride in everything he did ensuring that every detail met his high standards.
Boyet had a deep love for his church, his country and Nascar racing. He loved camping with Lynn and their favorite spot had become Pennsylvania where they could find an auction (or two) every day of the week. He also had a love for his 1966 Chevrolet truck which he restored from the ground up and was very proud of it. He was a member of the Sidewinders Car Club and enjoyed spending time with them at shows and talking old cars.
Above all, Boyet was a devoted and proud family man. He deeply loved them and never missed an opportunity to express how proud he was of his family. His kind and generous heart and willingness to help anyone who needed guidance made him a source of strength and comfort. A man of strong faith, Boyet cherished his church family and attended faithfully.
Though he may have departed from this world, Boyet’s legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. We are grateful for the time God allowed us with Boyet and are thankful for how Boyet enriched our lives. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
