Brenden Michiel Faassen, 27, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020. He was born June 2, 1992 in Mecklenburg County. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Wanona Wentz Arant. During these times of limiting the numbers for social gatherings, the Faassen and Arant family respects your concerns of avoiding crowds, so they welcome you to stop by Gordon Funeral Service on Sunday, May 17, 2020 from 1:00 - 6:00 PM to pay your respects to avoid crowds. Brenden’s mark on this earth began when he arrived and his footprints on this earth will march on forever. Brenden graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from Wingate University. He was a dedicated athlete and excelled in football, playing the sport from middle school through college. He was a wise man with a genuine and compassionate heart, along with a zany and fun personality. Brenden’s life mission was the belief in truth and respect. He fought many of his own life battles until joining his Spiritual Father. He was a terrific big brother and loving son. He will be grieved and missed by all who knew him. To know Brenden was to love him. Until we meet again, we love you our son, our brother and our friend. Brenden is survived by his father, Jon and step-mother, Mary; mother, Teresa Gale Arant and sister, Kaitlin Faassen; grandparents, Bill Neal Arant and Peggy Arant, Michiel and Lyda Faassen; Aunt Eyda and Uncle Dennis and cousin Lotte Kooimans, all from the Netherlands; and girlfriend, Talia Brown. A private graveside service will be held at Lakeland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Lee Park Church, c/o LP Sports, 2505 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110 or leeparkchurch.org.
