Brian Scott Jansen

Brian Jansen, 59, of Matthews, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on March 22, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Brian excelled as a husband, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend. He will be missed and continue to be loved by his wife of 33 years, Sharon (Sherri) Jansen, his daughters Kaitlin (Katie) and Nicole (Nicki) Jansen, his daughters’ respective partners, Alex Dixon and Alan Beauvais, his parents, Ken and Sally Jansen, and his sister, Christy Pincket. He also leaves behind a large network of supportive and loving friends spanning from his childhood in Wisconsin and Iowa to his 33 years in North Carolina, and a doting grand pup, Celsius.

He will always be remembered for his quick, sarcastic wit, his talent in reading every book character in a different voice, his beautiful singing voice and ability to whistle in every pitch imaginable, and his love for Christmas music and Hallmark movies, even in the middle of summer. He made a mean egg sandwich and a Kahlua pig that, true to his Hawaiian heritage, was “so ono.” He packed his daughters’ lunches almost every day and often left notes of encouragement inside.

Brian was known as a hard worker, and he had two careers he loved: 16 years at Piedmont/US Airways and 20 years at FedEx. He instilled in his daughters the importance of pride in one’s work, encouraging them to always do their best. On his route at FedEx, he was known as the friendly courier who knew everyone’s names and back stories, and who always had a pocket full of treats for their dogs.

Brian was born in Kieler, Wisconsin and was a graduate of the University of Dubuque, where he was a member of Mu Sigma Beta and studied aviation management.

A celebration of life service will be held at Gordon Funeral Service & Crematory on Saturday, March 26, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to the American Cancer Society.
