Mr. Bruce Hartwell Griffin, Jr., 81, of Monroe, died peacefully at home Thursday, the 11th of February 2021. He was born on January 19, 1940 as the son of the late Bruce Hartwell Griffin, Sr. and Roberta Sullivan Griffin. A Union County native, Bruce graduated from Monroe High School in 1958 before attending University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated in 1962. That same year, he wed his soulmate and life partner, Sis Griffin. They laid roots in Monroe, where Bruce Jr. commanded his family-owned car business, Griffin Motor Company. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 4:00 PM in Emerald Lake Clubhouse, 9750 Tournament Drive, Matthews, NC 28104. The family will visit with friends and relatives following the service. He is survived by his wife and three children, son Mike Griffin and his wife Tammie of Hamlet, NC, daughter Missy Walters and her husband Ingram of Monroe, and son Macon Griffin and his wife Rhonda of Monroe. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Stewart, his eight grandchildren, Erin, Griffin, Will, Savannah, Sullivan, Stowe, Wells and Altman, and one great-grandchild, Levi, who all loved him dearly.
