B.K. (Ken) Fleming, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Ken was born on December 10, 1938 in Nutter Fort, West Virginia, the only son of Thelma Talkington and Burl Kenneth Fleming. He graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, West Virginia and the Benjamin Franklin University School of Accounting in Washington, D.C. Mr. Fleming served in the U.S. Army Active Reserves and was with the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, Virginia. During his career with IBM he held various management positions in accounting, auditing and financial planning. He was promoted to the Corporate Audit Staff which necesitated traveling extensively in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He retired from IBM. Ken was a resident of both North and South Carolina with homes in Waxhaw, N.C. and Little River, S.C. on the marina. He loved sports; horseback riding with friends and fox hunting with the Mecklenburg Hounds of which he was a member, tennis and golf. He was a long time member of the Olde Providence Racquet Club where he participated in many team tournaments through the years. He was a member of the Grand Dunes Tennis Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. where he enjoyed playing when in Little River. Helping people and volunteering with the Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach Mobile Meals, Grand Strand Hospital and the American Cancer Society was an important part of his life and brought him joy. He is survived by his wife, Judith (Judy) Mundy Fleming, sons, Gregory Alan Burke and wife Lu Ann of Waxhaw, Jonathan Williams of Charlotte, a daughter, Stephanie Gay Fleming of Orlando, Florida, grandchildren, Ethan Fleming, Carson and Cheyanne Burke. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Waxhaw Baptist Church with the Reverend Chris Whitaker officiating. Interment will be private.
