Byron “Max” Starnes, 76, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014. He was born in Union County on February 14, 1938, son of the late Leonard and Ardle Laney Starnes. Mr. Starnes is survived by his wife, Ruby Keeter Starnes; son, Byron Max Starnes II (Deborah) of Marshville; daughters, Darlene S. Price (Rocky) of Wingate, and Annette S. Skinner (Joey) of Monroe; stepchildren, Paul Jones Jr. of Wingate and Debby Stegall of Hemby Bridge; sisters, Lorria Calalay of Jonesboro, GA and Jackie S. Dunlap of Hickory; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 12:00 pm in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 10:00 - 11:45 AM prior to the funeral.
