Carol Jean Godfrey, 69, passed away Monday September 5, 2011. Mrs. Godfrey was born in Union County, NC, May 28, 1942 the daughter of the late Lonnie B and Margaret Elma Hargett. She was a graduate of Indian Trail High School. Mrs. Godfrey is survived by her husband John O. Godfrey, son John R. Godfrey and wife Trecia of Monroe, daughter Crystal Heinzerling and husband J.R. of Garner, NC, brothers Bill Watkins of Indian Trail, Richard Watkins of St. Petersburg, Fla., sister Irene Price of Monroe, grandchildren Samuel Kollie Godfrey and wife CeCe, Elizabeth Carol Godfrey, Mabel Kollie Godfrey, John Charlie Godfrey, Daniel Ray Godfrey, Andrew Nicholas Godfrey, John Henry Heinzerling, Thomas Fredrick Heinzerling, Carleigh Elaine Heinzerling, one great grandchild Samuel Kollie Godfrey Jr. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Mary Elizabeth Baptist Church, 3703 Mary Elizabeth Church Road, Waxhaw, NC, 28173. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held at Gordon Funeral Service 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC, 28112, Tuesday September 6, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
