She left us with a handwritten obituary that we will share below:

“Caroleene Helms Couick, born February 13th, 1941, only child of William Norman Helms and Lyconia Secrest Helms, passed [April 25, 2025]. In 1960 she married her forever love, Harold Couick. She always knew God loved them because He blessed them with son David, and daughter, Dana. Then the three most wonderful grandchildren he created- Molly, Grace, and Jacob.

Harold being one of nine, she was so happy to be part of his big family. Then when her mother married Bill Parker in 1966, she had siblings. Sister Debbie P. Williams and brothers Darryl and Sonny Parker. She cherished them all, not just as eleven brothers and sisters but as treasured friends.

Beginning in 1966 when David was four and Dana two they leased a house at the River (Lake Wateree). The family banked so many special memories there watching children and friendships grow. When she retired from Union County Public Schools in 1996, that’s where they usually were. Her sign (Grace made) says ‘There is Always Time to Sit on the Porch', so, if heaven has a porch, she hopes there are lots of chairs.

Cancer robbed everyone of Harold in 2014 and Dana in 2016. She looks forward to being reunited with her beloved husband and precious daughter. Her parents and ‘other mother’ Zuleene Tucker.

Every time she talked with those she cared for she always said “I love you” because she wanted that to be the last thing they heard her say- and it was-”
