Carolyn Pearl Edwards, lovingly known as "Grandma" and "Gigi," passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Salisbury, North Carolina, at the age of 88. Born on September 15, 1937, in Pomona, California, to George and Jesse Warring, Carolyn lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave., Monroe NC 28112.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Carolyn served her country as a draftsman while stationed in Syracuse, New York. Her dedication to her work extended beyond her military service; she spent an impressive 40 years at Mutual Industries in Monroe. Carolyn’s strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident throughout her career.
Family was the cornerstone of Carolyn’s life. She is survived by her brother Dave Warring (Cheryl), sister Janice Plant, and her four children: Cyndi Rorick (Dave), Becky Costello (Joe), Bobby Edwards (Sherry), and Sharon Edwards (Cindy). She was a cherished grandmother to Bryan Costello, Joshua Naylor, Nathan Naylor, Jason Costello, Kiera Steen, Michelle Costello, and Amanda Sharphead. Her legacy continues through her 17 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Carolyn was predeceased by her loving husband Vann Edwards and her parents George and Jesse Warring.
Carolyn’s hobbies reflected her zest for life and generous spirit. A passionate bowler, she often participated in up to three leagues at once. In later years, she found joy in watching football-both college and NFL-and golf on television. Her hands were rarely idle; she lovingly crafted lap quilts that she donated to Veterans' homes and VA hospitals as a testament to her gratitude for those who served.
Known for her warm heart and welcoming nature, Carolyn never met a stranger. She radiated love and kindness to everyone she encountered. Her pride in her military service was matched only by the pride she felt for the service of several members of her immediate family. Above all else, Carolyn’s greatest joy came from her family. She delighted in sharing stories about their accomplishments and took every opportunity to celebrate them.
She was dedicated Christian with an unwavering faith in God, Carolyn spoke openly about her beliefs with anyone willing to listen. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life and inspired those around her.
Carolyn’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May the love she shared continue to bring comfort to those whose lives she touched so deeply.
