Carolyn Simpson Goodwin, 72, passed away peacefully Friday, March 29, 2019. She was born in Union County on June 29, 1946 to the late Huey A. and Ruth Long Simpson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald R. Goodwin. Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 302 E. Windsor Street, Monroe, NC 28112. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 - 2:45 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Ms. Goodwin is survived by her daughters, Tracey Harrill (Chris) of Indian Trail; Keri Humann of Rockingham; Jenny Joyner (Will) of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; Matthew and Kayla Harrill; Lauren, Brent and Emma Humann; and Eliza, Henry and Patrick Joyner and one brother, Jim Simpson (Marlene) of Monroe. Carolyn was a paralegal in Charlotte, Monroe and Indian Trail for over 40 years. She had a strong work ethic and did not look forward to retirement. She was known as a great friend to many and had a fond love of people. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Monroe and loved her bible study group.
