Carolyn Hill Helms MONROE - Carolyn Helms, 73, of Monroe, NC, went to be with our Lord December 24, 2012. Carolyn was born Sept 24, 1939 in Monroe, NC. She was the daughter of the late Walter (Doc) Hill and Vinnie Secrest Hill and also preceded in death by her brothers Walter Everett Hill and Robert (Bobby) Milton Hill. She was a lifelong member of Secrest Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed serving in the senior adults ministry. One of the things she treasured most was planning and going on annual excursions with her extended family, which grew to over 30 persons. Carolyn was fiercely devoted to her family, especially her nine grandchildren and her two great grandchildren, and was a steady source of inspiration and guidance for them all. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday December 28, 2012 at Secrest Grove Baptist Church, 4505 Weddington Road Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow in church cemetery. She will be fondly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Leon; children Michael and wife Kimberly, Scott and wife Joie, Rodney and wife Lisa; grandchildren Matthew, Bradley, Melanie, Taylor, Nick, Kate, and Leah Helms, Michelle and husband Bryan Thomas, Kristy and husband Chris Short, and great grandchildren Gavin and Kinsley Short. She is also survived by two sisters, Martha and husband Frank Hawkins, and Nancy and husband Jerry Huneycutt. She will be greatly missed.
